I hired Gary because I would see his truck in my complex all the time. He gutted and installed a new kitchen and also gutted and re-did my basement. All I heard about contractors was that they never call you back, don't show up for days, etc. Gary is the exact opposite. His work is TOP quality. He is easy going and just fabulous to communicate with. He would go over the schedule with me, and always follow through. My kitchen is beautiful. And my basement is fabulous. The subcontractors were terrific also. I am so proud to show off all of Gary's work and would recommend him to anyone. We hired Gary W. Schank Custom Carpentry as the general contractor for a massive, interior and exterior home renovation. By far, the single smartest decision we made during this project was selecting Gary as the GC. Our project was fraught with unanticipated issues – not related to Gary, his work or the tradesmen he brought in, but the types of things you just won't discover until you gut a space. He addressed each of these issues with a level of knowledge that was extremely comforting, as was the way that he fully explained the options to us in easy-to-understand, layman's terms. He offered his guidance and opinions on not only those issues, but also material selections and design elements, which made the never-ending decision-making process one that was far less stressful than it could have been.
Not only was he knowledgeable and a highly skilled craftsman, but Gary brought a level of creativity and insight to the project that we frankly didn't anticipate, offering us suggestions that made a tremendous difference in the overall design of the project and the finished product. Those suggestions and ideas were the exactly the kinds of touches that gave our home a polished, cohesive look. I had brought in my own kitchen designer on this project, and when she dropped the ball, it was Gary who picked it up and kept the project moving seamlessly.
We cannot adequately express in this space exactly how much the selection of Gary Schank to lead our home renovation impacted the overall project and the end result. We bought this home 15 years ago with every intention of renovating it, and while it may have taken us a bit longer than we anticipated to get here, the wait was well worth it.
It has far surpassed what we hoped to achieve, and it is largely due to the dedication, diligence and care with which he ran the project. Gary is a fair and honest man, he's an expert in his field, and he keeps his word, something we’ve discovered is a rarity in this industry. This is now our dream home, and it is that because of Gary.
